Age of Conan is one of the best looking MMORPGs on the market. Funcom has invested a large amount of resources into this visually stunning MMORPG. The game centres heavily among its combat. The only alternative to this is the crafting skills you learn early on in the game. These resources are later used to help players advance and make gold. Age of Conan is intense currency oriented game. Relying heavily on Gold as it is referred to in Age of Conan. Large amounts are collected for crafting weapons and armour. Age of Conan however takes it to a whole new level with its introduction of siege battles.

The siege battles involve players raiding castles built by other guilds on the server. The construction of these keeps is extremely expensive and time consuming. After construction is complete players can purchase equipment to maintain the defences of the keep. This was an exciting new factor in the MMORPG genre. No other MMORPG implemented it this well. Transportation in Age of Conan also requires a steady income of gold which is easily attainable by the entertaining and deeply engaging quest lines present.

As with all MMORPGs its currency plays a vital role. However Age of Conan seems to rely more heavily on combat and free questing rather than a common goal for all its players. The bulk of the combat lies in its competition and its player versus player content.  Age of Conan’s gold system may be heavily relied on if Funcom makes its player versus player armour purchasable with gold. Since its guild keeps and weapons already are available to players and guilds.

In conclusion Age of Conan breathes a breath of fresh air into the MMORPG experience as the detail and the visuals in the environment are extremely awe inspiring. Funcom has also invested a large amount of time into its combat system making it far more engaging than I imagined.
