World of Warcraft starts off as initially a level grinding game. Depending on when you join in, the road from level one to level cap can be a long, at times tedious experience. It all depends on how one levels. Some level casually with friends and are more into the social aspect of the game. But many simply go at it alone and get discouraged at the amount of leveling required. But leveling alone can be less painful, as long as you go into it with a plan. There are three ways to go about this: grinding off mobs, off of quests, and off of constant instance running.

So put on the music, have a few snacks, and put aside a few hours and prepare for the grind.

With the inclusion of guild 'leveling' in Cataclysm, many have used the experience increases to outright speed a character's experience gain. Add that onto gaining access to heirloom gear from guild specific vendors, guilds themselves are a way to power level.

Instance with a high level.

Asking that high level guildie of yours to run an at level (or above level) for you is also a form of wow power leveling. Unlike in twinking where a under leveled alt sits towards the entrance to avoid gaining experience, a high level will normally run in and gather many mobs while the lower level hangs back not attacking until the high level has all threat.

The low level would be say a room away while the mass farm happens so that they can then leech the experience and have rights to roll on the item drops. This tactic can also be used in killing mobs outside of instances.

Kill mobs in groups efficiently with friends in high places.

Normally in farming mobs along, one goes for green wow power level mobs because of the easier time in killing them. But if you have a high leveled friend, one can by pass this by grouping with and having the high level area of effect higher leveled red mobs, netting a low level lots of experience in a shorter amount of time. Check it early and often because if you're cluttering up the "General" chat channel asking "Where's the Wailing Caverns?" 47 times not only will you learn all sort of new Azerothian insults, but when you finally find the place, it's not going to bring you some friends when you then start looking for a group to explore with. The City Guards are your friends - use them well.

This is kind of an adjunct to the whole "Read your Quest Journal" thing, but the other thing that clogs up the general chat channels is people asking for directions in the hub cities. Fortunately Blizzard has come up with a simple solution - just ask a city guard! They'll give you directions to everything in the city and even provide you with a little flag in your mini-map! You know, the employment situation in Azeroth must be pretty bad when you consider that most of these guards are level 75 or so and can easily wipe out virtually every monster in the game and they're taking the time out of their busy schedule to help you. The least you can do is avail yourself of their services. I don't even think they get paid!

Every trade skill in World of Warcraft has a complement.

Players can only learn two "professional" trade skills (Fishing, Cooking, First Aid and a few others don't count). Be aware that with the exception of Enchanting and Tailoring, every trade skill has a "gathering" skill and a "crafting" skill. Blacksmithing, for example, requires raw materials that can only be retrieved by Mining. Be sure you select the appropriate skill; otherwise you will end up buying raw materials, wow items at auction or trying to trade your raw materials for finished goods.

The Num Lock key is your auto run.

This should be obvious, but you'd be surprised how many players forget to use their auto run. Auto run is your best friend, though. During long runs you can be checking your quest log, futzing with your inventory, or chatting with friends. Use wow items!

Control your Pets.

This, of course, only applies to pet classes (Warlocks and Hunters), but if we had a gold piece for every Warlock and Hunter who left his pet on "Aggressive" we'd - well, we'd have a lot of gold pieces. Your pets are tools. They're used for very specific purposes. Putting them on Aggressive lets them attack indiscriminately and can draw a lot more monster attention than your group is ready to deal with. Often a pet on the loose means death for the group and a long, boring corpse run.

The World of Warcraft Monopoly game has moved a step closer to being released with the announcement of the six player pieces revealed on the official WoW page. Murky, Mechagnome, Magni Bronzebeard's hammer, the flying boot, the hearthstone, and a corehound pup will all make their appearances in the game set to be released later this year.

There are plenty of iconic images from the World of Warcraft game and lore. So when it came time for Blizzard to choose which icons would be best suited as playing with wow items for the upcoming Monopoly World of Warcraft board game, they narrowed it down to 10 and then asked the players to narrow it down to six.

After collecting 50,000 votes on its Facebook page, Blizzard announced the six pieces that will be included when the game is released in May. Murky, Mechagnome, Magni Bronzebeard's hammer, the flying boot (symbolic of the Flightmaster on maps), the hearthstone, and a corehound pup were the winners. Those that didn't make the cut were the blacksmith's anvil, the spellbook, Chen's Keg, the treasure chest and wow items.

The game will sell for $39.99 when it comes out, and will follow traditional Monopoly rules. Gone are Boardwalk and St. James Avenue and in their place are the likes of Twilight Highlands and Terokkar Forest. Even the dice with have Alliance and Horde themes.
